Instead, three minutes before you're supposed to rinse, add two squirts of shampoo into the dye left in the bottle. Shake it up and apply the mixture to your ends. "It dilutes the dye but still gives you a pinch of color and shine," says Louis Licari of the Louis Licari Salon in New York City. Let your hair down : You know how the models in the commercial always have their dye_coated hair artfully twisted up into a bun? Don't do that. "The color won't be even when you rinse it out," says Ionato. "Leave it down until the timer rings."
Pick formulas that come in eco_friendly packaging. Want to make Mother Nature especially happy? Pay attention to the packaging too. "Aveda's tubes are manufactured with 100% wind power and made from post_consumer recycled content _ right down to the cap," says Mejia Montane. And when you order directly from Manic Panic's website, it will be packed with biodegradable peanuts. Ultimately, the dream of organic hair dye is just that _ a dream. But that doesn't mean you can't use your head when deciding what kind of hair color to put on top of it.
